Janelle Monáe does a mini-repeat of Britney Spears massive Super Bowl time-machine idea from 2002, the difference being that Janelle is pretty and has talent (miauw!) Well, that and the idea here is anchored in the fact that this is the 50th super bowl, so the time-travel is a homage to that. Still.
It's sad enough that Pepsi chose to do a watered down version of something they already did, what's worse is, they didn't have Janelle sing it all. Having her dance to the Contours "Do You Love Me," then Madonna's "Express Yourself" before singing her own version of "Joy of Pepsi" strikes me as half-assed as recycling the idea from Super Bowl 2002 & Britney's time medley. Le fail, people.
