Neste introduces sustainable Zero Vacation as part of its Zero Island project in Sweden

How to make domestic tourism great again? Turn an entire island into a sustainable staycation! Neste, world’s leading renewable energy company, is introducing a Zero Vacations on a Swedish island as a sustainable alternative to vacations that require flying to the other side of the world. Every aspect on the island Lidö, located just an hour away from Stockholm, is designed to produce as little emissions as possible. Tapping into the staycation trend, the Zero Vacations are designed to let guest experience a simpler way of life. Guests will be staying in the acclaimed Zero Cabin, Nolla, an Airbnb favourite featured on Lonely Planet and Dezeen among other, and dining delicious dishes from the specially designed, sustainable Menu.

“Fossil-free future requires changes in our everyday lives, and in our mindset. As part of Zero Island project, we wanted to show people they can have a world-class vacation with as little emissions as possible and without flying to the other side of the world,” says Marketing Director Sirpa Tuomi from Neste.

Sweden is aiming to become fossil free by 2045. To examine how this target could be reached, Neste, the world’s largest producer of renewable diesel, is exploring solutions that help make Zero Island entirely fossil free in one year.
