Killing the moreover headlines
As frequent and oldie type adgrunts here know, we've been carrying moreover headlines on its own page /news.php for a few years.
We'll, we decided to dump 'em. The "advertising industry news" you can get from them, you can still get with your various newsgathering agents. We don't think the headlines quality is what it used to be. buh-bye.
First 90% of their headline sites started asking for sign-ups in order to simply read an article. It became hit or miss which ones you could read as you clicked your way through headlines. darn annoying that.....
Then, we started getting annoyed with the common headline "it's looking up in the ad biz" which has been regurgitated on every ad related site since the ad recession set in - I'm all for optimism but some things should either be true or left alone.
Then we noticed that a lot of personal weblogs ended up on this newsgatherer list. Here's our chance - we figured - being a non-VC funded community adblog for all, after all.
When we asked to be added moreover told us that the content was not appropriate. They refused to answer what exactly was not appropriate in the advertising industry news section, so we can just guess they didn't like our style, or perhaps my name. [it happens, too often].
All we ever do is yak about advertising here - or post advertising commercials so, yep, I'm perplexed to why they didn't like us. ;-)
In any case, the headline gatherer started to suck and is now retired. you can get better tailored news than that these days with little effort.
Newsisfree is a good resource to find newsfeeds. If you know any others Feel free to comment under this article about any other other good newsgathering sites which all logged in members can do [*hint*]. Thanks.
