No Logo - Naomi Klein does documentary on brands.
British Adland readers take note: Naomi Klein - the author of
"No Logo" (excerpt here) has been scouting around Europe with a TV crew, making a documentary to appear next month on British TV - channel Four after the news.
She's gone to Prague and seen the world bank meeting riots. She's been to St Luke's to chat with Andy Law about brands, She's talked to Nike, Microsoft, Virgin and Do. All will be wrapped together soon, keep eyes open and steal that Radio Times off your neighbour, it should be an interesting show....

I guess most of the people visiting this site are in or related to the advertising industry or involved in some brand somehow in the whole scheme of things. So I am interested - have you read N. Klein's book No Logo and if so do you agree with her points and from that - how can you justify the work you do in advertising? Just curious...
Actually - I just started reading this brick of a book. There is no doubt that the girl is sharp.
I like it so far - I jumped straight to the culture jamming chapter. Can't really make an opinion about it until I have read it completely though.
I actually already asked. Unfortunatly Random house will not give Adland a complimentary copy, and Naomi doesn't have enough copies herself. It will be out in paperback in january for those interested.
Anyone reading No Logo should also read Kalle Lasn's "Culture Jam". I recommend it to any creative or ad exec in the biz. Naomi will make you paranoid and a Brand Hater - Kalle will make you energized and hopeful though they essentially carry the same message. With Kalle's book you believe you can change things for the better. I still haven't finished Naomi's book , but am loving every minute of it. Add to that, I just quit my job.
