Knicker Picker Dressing Room
Late in 2006, Limited Brands, which owns the Victoria's Secret chain, acquired La Senza Corp for $710-million. La Senza is Canada's biggest specialty retailer of lingerie holding 13% of the lingerie market with yearly sales reaching CAN$465-million.
According to Victoria's Secret, in the last five years Canadians bought US$90-million worth of lingerie via its internet site and catalogue. In 2005, the Victoria's Secret catalogue was received by three million Canadian households.
With lingerie being a multi-billion dollar industry, Knicker Picker has come up with a unique way of advertising their wares in an already crowded market.
I wonder if we will see Gisele Bundchen on the Victoria's Secret web site like this?

Hmmm. I think this thing is more amusing to the guys than to the gals who might want to try things on. I can not judge by looking at these girls what their measurements are (and cup-size) which is the single most important factor when I browse for bras. I guess logic should tell me to pick the meatier gal on the far right as she obviously has a bust, but this doesn't seem to suit me since I'm petite as hell (probably a head shorter than all these gals). See what I mean (or is this a girl thing?)
Damn it, Dabitch! I hate it when you use logic! :-)
Seriously, I think you are exactly correct. It isn't much use for women. It is geared for men. Why else would it have that Boy's Buying Guide link?
Well in that case it does make sense - I keep hearing a story about how when my father went to Paris and thought he'd buy my mom some nice figure hugging fashions he "hugged all the Parisian women until he found one the right size". ;P
Ha! :-)
A coworker of mine, who said she took a course in advertising, told me she wants to see a "sweaty man in boxers" in a woman's perfume ad because that will make her want to buy the scent. If she is correct in her thinking, Knicker Picker has it right, I guess. Or maybe not. I really have no idea what she meant.
actually, now come to think of it, your coworker may be right! That may have more impact on my decision if the perfume is supposed to be sexy! Something like Gucci Rush.
Okay, I admit I was poking a little fun at the site in the beginning, but they have made some changes and improvements(?). I still think it is for men, but maybe Dabitch (and others) will add her comments for a woman's view.
I can see this kind of online site being launched by the big lingerie companies to advertise their products (to men?).
I'll bet a nickel (Canadian) Victoria's Secret (steals) does it first.
