Search currently re-indexing site.

Hey adgrunts. We've had issues with corruption in our search table in the database. (English: it don't work no good). Anyway, to remedy that we're re-indexing the site. It'll take a few hours before the latest postings are found via our own search, so you might want to rely on the google search for the time being.

Funny, checking to see what people are looking for right now and I see it's the "Via Pia" ad. Ever try scrolling down? ;)

26% of the site has been indexed. There are 35530 items left to index.

This means that anyone searching now will only get results returned from 1999, 2000 and 2002. I can see that people ARE searching lots (and repeating the same search over and over) right now, so uhm.. Well that's why. Ok?

That explains why I only got 10 really old results returned when searching on "match.com"

Yeah everyone is using the site search instead of the google search (example: http://www.google.com/search?q=Nike&sitesearch=commercial-archive.com) - I might as well be talking to myself in this front page post here. I guess on the upside, people will see old content (such as ads) and maybe they didn't know the archive was that big... ;)

Anyway, as you might have noticed, the site is currently blue and white. I'll fix this later, I have another (paying job) deadline to attend to I'm afraid.

I like the blue and white! Could users have a preference option to select which colours they want to see displayed when logged in to Adland? Wasn't there something like that here before?

I honestly didn't notice the change in colour scheme. What was it before? Yellowish greenish?...I don't visit often enough...

Yes and yes and yes sure. I can let users pick their own color - later tho. When I removed that option before it was because I thought nobody wanted it. ;)

Whilst this was occurring, I had connection problems:
On Monday (1/14/2008), I was online and able to read/comment here - then, suddenly, I got a Gateway Timeout error. I continued to get this most of the day.

On Tuesday (1/15/2008), once again, I was online and was actually in the middle of a comment, when the window closed. I tried to get back to Adland, but I got a message stating that the database wasn't supported [something about MySQL, and whether I wanted to install some software on my system - As this was my client's machine, and I need to jump thru hoops in order to install needed software, I doubt that I would be allowed to download and install the offered software]. This problem continued the remainder of my day.

I will also post this on the "minor Adland related problems" thread.
