What are "favorites"?

I see a line at the bottom of each post "add to favorites". What is that?

Is it just me or did the text-input block change from green to grey recently?

You'll see that there's a list of my "favorites" there. It's a way of bookmarking/earmarking stuff you liked, be it a commercial or a post so that your friends or you can re-find it easily. Or just to show off how great your taste in ads is. ;P

The input-form has changed, it's now HTML-with easy buttons, just click the B for bold the I for italics the U for underline and the smilies for uh.. Smilies!Kiss

I'm trying to make it simpler for those who don't HTML to add stuff (like images and whatnot) to their posts and comments. We've had this for ages but it was off by default. If you don't like it you can change your preferences on your account page - check the "tinyMCE settings" and change it to false.

Note: The HTML helper called "tinyMCE" or "rich text" (below your commenting box) isn't quite perfect in Safari. In fact, it's rather buggy in Safari. I'm working on fixing this but if you are a Safari user you might want to turn tinyMCE off by default in your settings under "My account".

Thanks. I'm a Safari user. I used to be a Mozilla user, which is still my fav, but hasn't been supported by anyone for years now. And I don't really like Firefox, so I'm stuck with Safari. I'll let you know if this fixes the "link" problem.

well, when I'm finished it will. ;) Right now though I', fixing linkrot in lots of old posts. Spying on mt favorites stories and commercials will bring you back in time as I bookmark stuff I've just fixed and fancy. tracking me reveals all. I have 620 more posts to go now.

and then I'll work in the tinymce thing. ;)

It's fun to stalk people! I've been checking her track-record for weeks, and when I log on I check all my buddies tracks as well, so I'll see what they've done no matter how many new comments drown them out of the new comment box.

AHA, so people have discovered the tracking feature, this explains why so many are commenting on really old posts recently. It was confusing me for a bit, I thought that perhaps people were browsing by topic or something like that to find old posts - but then now I realize it's more likely that y'all are just stalking me as I mend old posts from broken links. ;)

Actually, I didn't know about the tracking feature until you told me about it yesterday. I had been browsing by topic and using the search engines to find things. Now that I know about the tracking feature, I'll have to be more careful and cover my "tracks." Otherwise the Paypal porn police might find me watching a Wonderbra ad. :-)

Favorites are nice, but few people are using them. I'd like to see more of other peoples favorites.

Well wehey! If you're gonna use them.. I better mend this idea. The original idea was that one could reach a "favorited page" from each adgrunts member page. So my "favorites page" looks like this (CSS seemed borked on my page in particular, gotta figure out why)

So your mochazine, are the same link (http://commercial-archive.com/favorite_nodes/view/1/story) just replace usernumber 1 with your number.
Like so: Mochazinas favorites. And adlib's favorites, and purkens favorites ...

Interesting when browsing those I saw lots of people had favorites the Milk badlander, and nothing else. Wonder if they came here just for that?

yeah.. Uhm.. Now that I've been mucking around with the favorites for a bit here I find it kind of annoying that there's a distinction made between favorite story and any other type of post, say - commercials.

So my favorites look like this:
favorite commercials
favorite story
favorite amazon book review

Ok, it might work on pages as crowded as mine but it really doesn't work for people who just favorited a handful of things (so I changed all those links to point to their favorite commercials). I gotta figure out a better way to do that. I think. Maybe. Oh what do you think? need input
