Fixin' some dead internal linkage in Badland
Phew. Yeah, I have fun weekends. Not.
I was just going through all of our Badland separated at birth twin ads posts, after all that's how Adland began it's life as a website back in 1996 so it seemed the best place to start fixing dead internal links. I found that we've had a lot of fun in there over the years, some stuff that you new adgrunts might have missed is (IMHO) still amusing.
We compared commercials in series like distracting TV, and Mama Mia that's a ballsy rip-off. We showed the Puma ads comparing them to vodka ads, which then later took on a life of it's own when Puma got a whiff of those ads but make no mistake they began their web-fame here as Badlanders.
We've had Geoffrey Roche call us up and correct a mistake in the post Honey, where are my ideas?. We interviewed the poor guy who had to stare at a knob for four days of post-production creating a singing weenie, and compared other post-production feats in commercials, like the twisty legs in Levis and ... more Levis adverts. We've giggled at the rain and soundtrack twin car ads, we've wondered if homages to great old ads are reaching the punters since they are such in-jokes. We've exposed Cannes winners as possible cartoon rip-offs once, twice.. and oh here's a third time. We've giggled at twin ads appearing in the same issue of Lürzers just pages apart, or winning the same category Epica award just a few years apart proving that we all have really short term ad-memories. We've even put me in Badland because we're fair like that. ;P We've unearthed the Original Milk ads, found that most vacuum cleaner posters really suck. Football is best played as giants on the side of buildings in Adland, and wee logo's can make a big impact if you add a huge hand to them. ;)
And we've laughed at funny spoof ads like the Brazil vs Argentina poster series.
In short, we've had a lot of fun. :) Now that you guys can post images in comments, you can probably add to some of the old Badland posts, as nothing really is new under the sun. Check the freshly link-cleaned Dupliclaim and Spoof ads categories for some classic Adland fun.
