Hi Katy,
Another way of looking at *ambient* is
*Moments of truth, assisted by the physical context the ambient idea is located in*.
This definition clearly separates ambient from something that is merely a *stunt*.
Don*t get me wrong, stunts can work really well, but in some ways, a stunt differs in that it can be more powerful if it is experienced in a way that is a complete surprise - almost *out of context*.
The two things that true ambient and a successful stunt normally have in common though are
-Potential for large audience.
-Great PR potential.

im currently in my final year of study and my research project is about ]
ambient media and has it lost its way, the reason for actually being there, has it lost its essence
as i continuely research i get more fustrated with the definitions currently circulating about what is ambient media. My definition is that ambient media utilises its enviroment/surroundings to enhance/strengthen/impact the idea, with out the immediate surrondings it wouldnt be the ambient media. (you can disagree if you like, but tell me why you disagree)
the main reason for contacting you is (i was hoping) you have researched this area and could possibly give me direction where to look to find crediable information and resources. (cheeky as that may seem i m looking for information and dont want to wade through crap, all about time effiency
