You can also try the agencies websites. Some will even list to whom they*d prefer for you to direct freelance queries. Not many though.

All 40.000 commercials in the commercial archive are in Apple's free and fab Quicktime player format.

I*ve been thinking of sending out a direct mail piece advertising some of my freelance services to advertising agencies. I have a couple of questions though.
1. To what individual in the agency should I address the mail to to assure the greatest chance of being contacted? Will a "Attn Creative Director" work?
2. Is there a central directory somewhere of American Advertising firms that I can use to get addresses from?

What kind of freelance work do you do? It might be best to send a personal letter or email to the CD. Let them know you*re not just looking for any old work, you want to work for THEM.
That said, I*d find the name of the CD for the mailing. And check your local library for the Red Book. It*s a listing of all the agencies in the US. You can also try www.agencycompile.com.
