Has anyone got a contact for Sir Frank Lowe*s New Agency

ps - I*m now surfing with FiltersetG on and it looks exactly like tryrugby describes - some links are missing and every image ever is missing. The site is totally fucked.

..... *a few moments pass*

Aaaah, much better. I delted "filtersetg@updater" from the extensions folder and now Adland is back to normal again. Yeay!

Red Brick Road?

not yet......

I was talking with IPG folks last week...

He apparently is still underground -- although the name did leak out in AdAge last week...

He apparently is still sorting out the partners for it as people out of London keep shifting around.

I*m learning that this site doesn;t work with Firefox all that well -- newbie mistake I guess.

This post was in regard to the way earlier Frank Lowe postings

It doesn*t? I make it and all I ever use is firefox (I check that it works in Safari and others too, but, point being I surf firefox so bugs will be noticed first in this browser).

I think you accidently clicked " [Post New Topic] " rather than "reply", no worries - I*ll connect your reply to the right thread.

....and I*m done. Ta-rah!

*bump*

(lo-tech hack to make post appear on the way top of things - hehehe-.)

Well I*m running Firefox 1.5.0.1 with Adblock (which could be the issue) but the UI is completely different in IE than FF -- with the absence of a "reply" button being a big change. It doesn;t render at all the same -- nor near the same functionalatiy in FF as in IE.

How perplexing! This is what I see in Firefox 1.06, with adblock (and all sorts of plugins) installed.

closeup with the reply link highlighted as my cursor touched (Mac OSX does not "photograph" the cursor when you screendump).

Aha! Might it be the OS? What operating system are you running? Can you screendump what you see? Wasn*t aware of this bug, thought firefox acted the same on all platforms.

(sorry guys, bit of a thread hijack. I like to try and fix bugs if someone spots them though. Carry on gossiping about Lowe)

I*m using Win XP SP2 -- and the comparison of the screens between FF & IE is drastic. This is the only site that I really have to use in IE because it is so radically different -- otherwise I use FF exclusively. The limited functionality in FF caused me to check out the difference in the first place.

Still, seeing a screendump would really help.

So I got one from adgrunt deep.ed, who runs firefox on Windows (even emails in Thunderbird). He sent me this screendump of him logged in looking at this thread. (click on it to see the full screen).

So, he might be using a different skin (Spring, in fact) but this doesn*t remove any "reply" links, and he can see them. But you can*t? I*d really love to see a screendump of what you see. Is the bug on this website, or is the bug showing up due to a preference or plugin in your computer?

Scratch adblock off the suspects list, deeped has adblock too. You can only seee adblock on the commercials around here when the tab shows up.

It couldn*t be that Norton Internet Security "feature" that kills Adland, as that would show up when tryrugby uses IE as well, right?

Lets see a screendump of the phenomenon!

Right, if it was that, it would affect adland even when using IE.

Good guess though, I can*t think of anything else that would remove a link.

"a href" is pretty basic HTML and renders the same in any old browser, unless of course someone is using Norton adblocking type stuff, which removes the links to any URL containing "ad" in it. This would show up in more places than the forum though, every internal link on this site would vanish, and all images as well. All the links in the top bar "home" "commercials" would be gone. etc. I*ve seen screendumps of it and it ain*t pretty.

Unless you*re into really minimalistic sites that are impossible to navigate that is.

Might this be the bad guy FiltersetG - a beta blocklist for the adblock extension (only on Firefox) also blocks most of adland.

I just posted a false postive report in their forums. here FP > ad-rag.com

This might have been what tryrugby was using as it*s only available for Firefox and he had no problem with IE.

man that took me ages to figure out.

You can pick FilteresetG up here as a plugin but don*t it breaks adland. wink

FilterseG*s own website is at http//www.pierceive.com/filtersetg
