So, I guess everyone was a little surprised in this "Religious Right" atmosphere that a middle of the road product went with the slogan "You Bet Your Sweet Aspercreme!" sung by a joyous chorus. Personally, I thought it was pretty catchy and kind of amusing. Certainly memorable and fun to sing! In short, everything you want in a jingle/slogan.
However, the ad got retooled and the new version is "You Bet If It*s Aspercreme." Hardly memorable, not fun and not even meaningful in its own context!
I have to say that this is a bad move, especially because ad time was bought during "Jeopardy!" and it was quite noticible after the quiet and austere tones of Alex Trebek saying goodbye to the audience and handclasping the contestants to hear that chorus of singers shouting "You Bet Your Sweet Aspercreme!"
This certainly isn*t the first campaign that got a retool after it originally aired, but I*m disappointed to say the least! The fact that they got the slogan on air at all was a kind of triumph; but the fact that they chickened out saddens me.
Maybe they*ll use the slogan in other ways... Howard Stern is on Satellite Radio now... lol

uh? What did "You Bet Your Sweet Aspercreme!" have to do with religion?
I mean in the atmosphere of "religious righteousness," where there are constant complaints to the FCC re choice of language, not that it has anything directly to do with religion.
