How long did it take you to achieve your dream?

To those who knew exactly what they wanted to do in advertising, how long did it take for you to get to where you are now?
And how did you get there? By that, I mean what did you start out as and how did you work your way up.
What were you best/worst moments on your way to the top?
Were there any hurdles you had to overcome? ( difficult boss/co-worker, having doubts, mind-blocks etc )
I am really curious to see how people got to where they are, and it would motivate me greatly to read your stories. smile
