I have to see this GE Moneybank commercial and hear the song. Will it be coming to Adland?

The music of KISS in a Mars bar commercial, Twisted Sister playing in the background of a Wendy*s commercial.
What is the strangest choice of music you have heard used in a commercial?

Nice question. Two spring to mind - the first is an Irish ad (so no one outside of this blighted island will have seen it) to remind you to pay your TV licence fees. The "creatives" involved saw fit to go down a route of trying to make not paying socially unacceptable, hence horrendously staged conversations between friends during which it transpires that one of them hasn*t paid up, and the others are all horrified, and the woman who was going to sleep with him no longer wants to etc. Anyway, one of these crappy little ads featuring four guys in a flat, had Tom Waits*s Swordfishtrombones playing behind it. I simply can*t believe they paid whatever exorbitant amount that would have cost, even if the notorious ad-shy Mr Waits had seen fit to let them, so I reckon they were chancing it. If anyone feels like suing, I*ll testify.
And secondly I think I heard Radiohead*s Street Spirit on a South American Nike ad, which seems impossible knowing their anti-globalisation stance. It may have been on a director*s reel or something so it may not have run as such, but still, pretty darn cheeky.
Unless Radiohead did actually sell it to Nike and my faith in them is misplaced, but then my whole universe would be out of whack so I do hope not.
Tom Waits? no way, he hates ads - they must have done that behind his back. He*s sues for a soundalikes in car ads, remember? Tom Waits sues Opel over "voice theft" in advert
I always thought shiny boots of leather in that dunlop ad was a little odd... But then came "Perfect day" for BBC. What was that supposed to mean, TV is like heroin now? OK maybe that wasn*t so farfetched.....
the perfect day song ithink was a commercial (if you can call it htat on bbc!) for the BBC and its ongoing commitment to presenting creative and innovative music in its 75th anniversary year and for children in need which it raised quite a bit of dough for, couple of million.
Down here in NZ there was one of those beautiful, atmospheric bank ads for BNZ (Bank of New Zealand), extolling the virtues of their home mortgage products.
you know the type of thing, *we all have dreams - especially down here of owning a beautiful coastal / lakeside property, blah, blah, blah* - and with BNZ it*s so attainable..........
... and the music track was just so right, so soulful - just the instrumental part of a well known song.
The song? "Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve.
So what you may ask? Well, only that most people know the lyrics, and so while they*re humming along watching the visual beauty of the TVC, the lyrics jump up in your mind and bite you!
OPENING LINES **Cause it*s a bittersweet symphony this life
Trying to make ends meet, you*re a slave to the money then you die*
Ironic? - maybe..... aspirational.... could be?
A creative *in-joke*? - no, couldn*t be - surely!
Postscript - this TVC came out at least a year ago, so there would certainly not be any linkage to my tale, but the agency that had this account (for 16+ years) just got fired by the client!
"Bitter, not sweet Symphony" indeed!
*moahahaha* ! lol
That is just perfect.
There is a super-annoying song in the GE Moneybank commercials currently running in Sweden&Denmark.. The lyrics go something like this
Again you ask me if I*m true
and if I*ll stay with only you (? or is it love only you?)
But my heads too full of voices
to make up my busy mind
maybe I will
Maybe I won*t....
Yeah man, because staying faithful to one bank is hard.
That song is the most annoying thing ever, I feel like ripping out my ears every time those ads come on. They*ve been using the tune for well over a year in nearly every commercial break at night. aaaaugh!!
And let*s not forget Royal Caribbean using Iggy Pop*s Lust for Life. I think that ranks number one on the list.
I might even hear Heroin by The Velvet Underground in a commercial one day.

Yes.... yes, yes, yes. This is very close to being the worst music bed ever. Dabitch we should consider starting a help group for Scandinavian victims of GE Moneybank commercials.
...and make GE Moneybank (because banks without money are so damn common - not!) PAY us a huge sum everytime we hear the ad. Only then will I consider them a "moneybank" and not try and kill their ad buyer.
Oh yeah - "lust for life" is up there in the extremly bad choices category.
