oops Pardon my ignorance. Given that I spent two and half years being immersed in the texas ad school scene and never heard of anyone who came out of the Texas Tech program, I assumed it was a typo. Sorry.

Hey everyone I am new to this site. I just got my BFA in graphic design...I*ve been working for a while in the industry though...I want to shift over to Advertising. I*m trying to find a great program in the New York City area...I can*t stand that Portfolio Center is in Atlanta, Miami ad has schools everywhere except the greatest city in the world(New York)....anyway I want to stay in the area...is Ad House a good school?

thanks guys

Check out the program at Texas Tech. Some of the best advertising people come from this school. Also, University of Texas has a great advertising school--

but keep in mind, UT is also known as the biggest party school in the world.

Good luck,

SDK

Texas isn*t in NYC is it? lol

Anyhoe, it might be useful to peek at older threads on schooling just to get some input from other adgrunts here - check these.

Hey so I*ve read all the posts on adschool so far and still am a little unclear.

I*m graduating from a 4-year university advertising program, which is pretty weak... I guess it*s your typical big fish, small pond scenario.....

I went to undergrad for advertising, took a job, just to get into an agency, and ended up a print buyer. Needless to say it sucks...ALOT.

does anyone know about the Ad house School in NYC?

does anyone know about the Ad house School in NYC? It*s lke a ghost ship,

who do you contact about taking classes etc.

... right - hope that helps a little.

really? I thought they had NYC classes?

SVA is a respected program. I believe FIT and Pratt both offer ad classes as well.

The program pointed out above is UT, not Texas Tech (big difference). It*s a party school if you want it to be, but the grad program is pretty focused. Were you planning to join a fraternity during grad school anyway?

It*s not NYC but I understand Syarcuse has a good ad program.

Another option is to contact the AdClubNY

www.theadvertisingclub.org/

I*m sure they have lots of info that could be helpful to you plus they might even be able to place you for an internship.

Another group to check out AWNY www.awny.org

No, Dorothy, Texas isn*t in NYC. It*s always ill advised to restrict your career potential by geography or money. If this is your passion, do whatever is necessary to get the best education. I offered suggestions based on the quality of the education program; based on whether you get out of school and actually have applicable skills.

My post is clearly distinguishes the difference between Texas TECH and UT Two different schools with excellent programs.

Good luck.
