Metlife

hi.. i was just as interested in this commercial as all of you seem to be, so i searched for it on google and found this site (and no answers). so i emailed met life. and they wrote back. see below

Thank you for writing to MetLife Online and allowing me to be of assistance. The original music in the Shampoo spot was "My Baby just cares for me" by Nina Simone. However, within the last year we changed the music, the new music is an original composition and the singer is Gregory Clark. Unfortunately the song is not commercially available at

this time.

I have been going quite mad for the last three months trying to find the artist and the name of the song used in the Metlife commercial where the grandfather is having his hair washed by three little girls. If anyone can help I will dance at your wedding and just about anything else you request.

Maybe it would help if I included some of the words. "my girl smiles cause she loves me, she knows I love her too, my girl smiles for me only, she knows my love is true" That is all I can remember. Someone once said it was "My Baby Just Cares for Me" by Nina Simone, but unless it was totally rewritten that is not it. Thanks for any help, I am still going crazy.

Yeah, that sounds like the song, but I think Nat King Cole sang the original. It*s been covered by a lot people...like Natalie Cole...

I have looked up the lyrics to "My Baby Just Cares for Me" a hundred times and by a hundred different people and I have never seen the lyrics I posted above in any of the lyrics for that song. I know I am writing the words correctly for the song in the commercial so it can*t be that song. Thanks though.

I just saw this commercial on thanksgiving day. It caught my attention right away. Its also driving me nuts. Yeah, i looked up that nat king cole song, its definately not it, but im still lookin. keep me posted, as will i.

Equally addicted to this commericial, I came across your query on Google...

It is definately Nina Simone and "My Baby Just Cares for Me" - but you need to make sure you listen to the right album, as there are definately different versions.

I went on iTunes and found it to be "My Baby Just Cares for Me" from the Nina Simone Anthology...

The key is to get the anthology version...

Good luck....it*s a great tune. I plan on using it as background music for my daughter*s third birthday party...

Oooops...scratch the above post - as I listen to it more and more, it appears to be the Devon Sproule version of "My Baby Just Cares for Me" - that*s definately it...no changing my mind this time!

Seriously, that*s it - Devon Sproule...

And she*s a pretty cool artist to boot!

That version of the song by devin sproule is not it. As pathetic as this sounds, i have this commercial on vhs- definately not the song. i think it is just original music created by the met life advertisers. if it is , that sucks. thankyou for trying to help though.------------------------------------------------------continuining to search

Interesting mystery. Could it be that the MetLife version is sung by some unknown artist just for the MetLife ad?

It would save them some cash in royalties - so it*s possible.

ps lovepugs - that avatar (the hanger) looks great on you. I think it*s the first time I*ve seen anyone use that one. smile

Thanks for the compliment. I have this strange quirk about wooden hangers. That is all I use. I promise it has nothing to do with "Mommy Dearest!" About the song, I hope we can solve this mystery. I am going nuts!
