Hi everyone.
I just joined ADLAND. Great site. BTW I*m a man of few words and even fewer thoughts.
Ola!
What brought you here today? A google search, a friend, an accidental mis-click with the mouse-button? smile
I too am new to this site. I have had a hard time finding a forum that interests me. You see, i have to find one of these things and research the ways that people interact with one another. I think it*s a stupid project, but im glad io found this forum. I*m begining to wonder if the point was the paper, or if my professor just wanted to introduce thosse of us who weren*t connected to this *new* form of media.
Hi everyone I*m brand new here and hoping that somewhere sometime I will find a financial services ad that isnt tedious or plain daft.
I have nothing to do with this type other than suffering from them repeatedly on my TV device thingy.
Also love those ads where the owner of the business feels he is best man for the job and ends up with nothing other than an expensive ego trip. will post my favourite if I am able. Its stomach churningly dreadful and hence fantastic
hi there, I*m also bright, shiny and new, (to this site anyway) - to the creators, admin and janitors - nice work smile
Yo, I*m new here!
Hi. I*m new here. This seems like a good forum, so hopefully I fit in.
http//stevehappens.blogspot.com
Ola Stevehappens - whats going on with your teeth in that image on your site? wink
I dug the saltlakecity.com posters by the way. funny. smile
We all fit in here. Some fit in better than others.
I like that this thread has become something like an introduction thread, so I*m making it a sticky (that sticks on top).
n00bs, feel free to say hi and let us know where you are at/what you do and that sort of thing. Also, I recommend shopping around for any other avatar but the default bucktoothed fugly one in your preferences. http//ad-rag.com/user.php

thanks for checkin* my blog. as for my teeth (and the rest of me) in that picture, I wish I could say I was heavily photoshopped, but alas, it only took like 2 minutes. D*oh!
add "photoshop guru" to your list of skills. razz
Another newbie! Yea! Hope to chat with all of you!
Oh, by the way everyone (by way of formal introduction), my name is Steve. I*m a Creative Director at a mid-sized agency in Salt Lake City, Utah. I also play in a band (rock) that you can check out here

Hey, I just signed up...can*t wait to get posting.
A bit about myself...
A/S/L - 20/F/AUSTRALIA
EDU - Just finished my first year in Advertsing in Melbourne.
Future Direction - Hopefully Art Direction.
I always loved advertising, and even though it*s been a slow first year at where I am studying, it has not really slowed down my passion.
I can*t wait to get to know you guys better and hopefully learn from you guys

While not exactly new to this site, having subscribed for the best part of this year, I*m feeling a bit Mondayish today and had the cockles of my heart warmed by the welcomes extended to all the newbies. Which in turn made me sad and hurt when I realised I had received no such welcome. So I thought I*d add my tuppenceworth to this thread which has made me feel all warm and fuzzy again. Which is important because I turn 30 in four days and I need all the fuzziness I can get. Damn! now I*m low again.
Manic depressively yours,
johdoom,
since i just joined, i will say hi to you, happy early birthday, and thirtys not too old...little secret to pass along younger ladies love the "little bit older than they are" men; who seem extremely more mature than the young little boys that run around universities.....if that doesnt make you smile a little--than dammit, drink a beer and have a shot--after all its your birthday!!! wink
John, john, johndoom,
Happy birthday, Merry Christmas and a prosperous New year to you - and while I*m at it, have a great Easter, and any other significant religious events, or other festivals that are important to you for the year ahead as well - there, I*m done now and covered off all of the bases in one foul swoop!
Have a good birthday mate smile
Well, bless your hearts for all that. However I realise in the course of things I have unintentionally misled you all - I am, in fact, a girl.
I know. Horrors!
Of course choosing a man*s name and avatar could be said to be intentionally misleading, but actually John Doom was the nickname I had in college (it was a thing we did), and as for the avatar - well, it*s Raymond Burr aka Perry Mason aka the murderer in Rear Window aka Ironside - I couldn*t resist.
Guess my mum was right. I should wear dresses more.
Anyway, thank you for your kind words, stealthman (or maybe stealthwoman or stealthperson) and kristeasa with whom I reckon I was on to a good thing back when I was a man and whose advice re beers and shots I*m going to take nonetheless.
Shocking how little this post has to do with ads,
JD xx
hehehe.... Boy, Girl, Whatever... - Welcome anyway! As the old joke goes - on the internet....

Oh and thirty ain*t nothing, I was older at 28 than I am now.
Hey Jane Doom,
no worries - and still have a great birthday - celebrate the fact that you*re still young & nubile and a mere 30!
However, I really don*t understand this whole net-alter-ego thing though.
I mean look at me for instance.
My real name is Mr Stealth Man, and that is no avatar I use - it*s really a picture of me. Mind you it was taken when I was young and in my prime - i*m a little more rusty than that now - ah, vanity gets me everytime smile
Howdy,
Noobie here 2.

Heck you don*t even know half of it. Try turning 41 grin next JAN. Cheer up 30*s cool. Wish I was. Happy Bday may all your dreams come true.
Ironfist.
I*m new here as well, and am enjoying reading through the threads. By way of introduction, I*m an ACD at a small New Orleans agency struggling back after Katrina.
I believe I*d also qualify as a fart director, though I usually just head over to Cafe du Monde for coffee rather than complain about the office brew. wink
accidentally, when I google "Luke Sullivan", I found this site. a good place for both language and AD - I come from China. lol

>>Oh and thirty ain*t nothing, I was older at 28 than I am now.
Oh thank goodness. I was afraid I*d be this old forever.
I*m also not really new, but I don*t post a lot. Currently a copywriter in New Jersey. And I*m finding the Ad Land Radio Tutorial surprisingly helpful.
Hi...uh...my name is Jon and I*m new here too. I*ve been an ad-dict for 12 years now. And...well...I know I should be ashamed but I pedal drugs to unsuspecting doctors and consumers all over this great nation.
grin
Hey Pharma,
I like the way you identify you SHOULD be ashamed, but don*t mention anything about actually BEING ashamed. I hear you brotha. You needn*t worry, you*re among similarly morally grey types here. Well, I*m one anyway - in my case it may not be drugs to doctors, but it is soft drinks to children and booze to a nation of alcoholics, so who among us can cast the first stone?
Welcome to a very nice site - just stay on the right side of that merciless harridan Dabitch, and you*ll be ok.
am i too late to join in the forum? also brand new member here. what a GREAT site!
Hello. I am new. I love advertising. I don*t get it sometimes, but then other times I think I do. Sometimes when I think I do, I don*t. It is weird.
I am a student in the United States of America, and I am very, very, very interested in "co-branded" advertising commercials/print/promotions/etc.; tied to the movie industry.
So, that is my thing.
Thanks.
anyway, i just moved down here to aussie. does anybody know a good blog for australian adveritising? couldn*t really find one that really interests me. bannerblog.com.au is a great blog though, they mainly talk about online ad.
what about
http//campaignbrief.blogspot.com/
nominated in the battle of the adblogs
http//ad-rag.com/battleoftheadblogs/
Yes, Dabitch is right - the CB blog will give you an intro to the gossip into the scene down-under.
There*s a Kiwi one that also covers Ozzie stuff, http//www.nzcreativecircle.blogspot.com BUT be warned, there seems to be a lot of bitter, nasty ad-wankers who post to both the CB and NZCC blogs, but at least it*ll expose you to the industry down here.
