All time FUNNIEST commercial?
I just found one that cracks me up - alas it is in Swedish and the funny is so not translatable. It*s a "look who*s talking" baby talking ad gag - we*ve seen them before - and I don*t know if it*s my hormones or the language chosen and the way the VO delivers it, but I laughed until I had tears in my eyes when I first saw it.

Yo all. Concernedadguys post called All-time Most Epic Commercials? is turning out nicely with suggestions, and shows no sign of slowing down..
So I thought I*d do the same and ask what*s your all time favorite funny commercial?
I*ll start with suggesting that the Push It guys must at least end up on the shortlist
Nextel - Push It (2004) 030 (USA)
But nothing, nay nothing comes even close tomaking me laugh as hard as this does Boreme funnycats .WMV (warning this link has been known to crash firefox, maybe open it straight in your Windows media player)
hmmm.. looks like I*m the only one to have employed the tag "funny" http://commercial-archive.com/tags/funny - though it is subjective of course...
Hmmm. Tough one Dab.
That Push It one is good though. Going to have to think on this one.

Little Caesar*s "I have a brother" spot.
Outpost.com*s tattooed kindergarten heads.
Those are the two that I think of first.
Seven little words "I*ve fallen and I can*t get up." Unalloyed comedic gold.
Oddly enough, I*ve never laughed out loud at any commercial. There are certainly some I find witty or amusing, but none that are bust-a-gut hilarious.
i would have to agree with Outpost. but i like both wild "pack of dogs" and "gerbil" better than "tatoo."
The FX "Language that guys understand" campaign is perhaps one of the funniest pieces of comedy I*ve ever seen...be that a commercial, stand up comedian, you name it.

FX, language guys can understand...was that the one with the newscaster? If so, I agree, that*s up there!
that*s the one. the campaign featured a newscaster, a national anthem singer, and a guy giving a eulogy.

funny, tomcole. but the funniest commercial ever?
i guess it*s a matter of taste. humor is nothing if not subjective.
Ok, I heard that ad was a scam.. As in it aired only once somewhere local just in order to enter the Cannes awards. I never did see it air myself and lived in the Netherlands at the time it was made. Such a small client though, would only have a budget for the local news media time, I figure.
I love the Sculptor ad from Peuguot - it cracks me up how proud they are of his creation when they go for a cruise.
Toyota - "Looks fast" where the dog runs into the parked car.
That*s all I can think of right now...
Ooh ooh! John West Bear Fight!
Here*s a new one. Super fresh. It*s epic and funny at the same time. Enjoy!

is this the all-time funniest? no. but i sure did laugh my ass off.

Still no laugh out loud knee-slappers really...
Oh wait, I forgot this one, which might be counted as both Epic and funny? smile
Black Currant Tango - French Exchange student (1997)
http://commercial-archive.com/node/121966
Definitely agree with both John West and Blackcurrant Tango being in there - what about the recent D&AD silver winners for TBS comedy channel. These ads I found brilliant because, in addition to being flat-out funny from the off and having a great campaign idea, they reward repeat viewing with little sight gags and in-jokes referring to the shows TBS has (like Seinfeld and Friends.)
You can find them here, if they*re not already somewhere on this site

There was also an old ad that perhaps someone will remember that I think was for Fox sports or some other male-oriented TV channel. It was done in the style of an ambulance-chasing lawyer ad, with a guy in a wood-panelled office talking to camera, but his speech was gibberish, merely a string of words like "titties, beer, booze, hockey, " with the payoff guys, we know what you*re really thinking. I*m explaining it badly, but it was very funny. I believe it ended with him saying to camera something like "And remember, we don*t football sex bowling, till you pizza". A copywriter*s ad.

Milk Truck! "Great now there*s gonna be cats everywhere."
Oh yeah, those "we don*t football sex bowling, till you pizza". ads were BRILLIANT. If only I could remember what they were for.

Those were the FX ads that I mentioned earlier. Probably my all-time funniest. Cliff Freeman.
Has little to do with the actual agency, just the talent. Anyone know who did them? Cw/ad/ cd? They desreve the credit.
Oh right, I Thought it might have been. Superb. Yeah, I*d like to know who the team was too. Made me laugh out loud they did.
Whoops. Not Cliff Freeman. Fallon/NY. How could I have faux pas*d so badly?
Writer Bobby Pearce
Art Director Neil Powell
Director Frank Todaro
well, i*m not sure about funniest ever. i have quite a few favorites, but the first commercial i ever remember lauging out loud at was a sprite commercial. this was aired in 1998 and featured a fake product called "sun fizz" where a cartoon sun chases a family through the house pleading with them to like it because of its vitamins and nutrients. the family is trying desperately to get away in classic movie chase scene fare. i loved it at the time. probably not funny to me anymore, but thats a different story
The mad sun!

Not sure if it qualifies for funniest of all time but it made me laugh when I first saw it.
Spontex - Hedgehog - (1999) 030 (France)

Anyone have any more suggestions for this thread? I could do with a laugh. I mean a knee-slappingly funny ad, what would you nominate t funniest commercial ever?
I can't remember if I remember the Blackcurrant Tango ad (if you know what I mean) but it's a good one. The appeal is very British, or indeed English -- ah, it makes you want to go out and wave a little Union Jack.
The Discovery Channel "there's gonna be cats" was intriguing. That loud, disgusting, and totally unnecessary "gulp" effect when she drinks put me right off, though.
Our favourite funny ads on TV at the moment are for the Toyota Yaris. Treat it with respect...
Plane Crash
Muddy Boots
Knickers
