MTV Ringtone Ad ( underpants)

I like it too. smile

And yes, I think there will be places where you can buy funny-films for ones phones in the future (if there isn*t already). It should just be micro-payment style. Yaknow, 20 pence per film or something. Might work if you pay via the phone bill.... ? hmm....

You should start that shop VimFuego, compete with them Jamba ringtone guys. smile

I*m sure plenty of people will have seen this ad on MTV Europe.

Featuring a guy doing strange dancing to mobile phone ringtone dressed only in his underpants, then his friends phone rings and he is dancing in his underpants but with some women also in their undies, then it stops and they disappear, and he tells his friend to ring him

Fantastic!!! grin

Can*t get it to play cry confused

checklist

1) You have Quicktime 6 installed and it plays nice with whatever browser you are using right now. Check.

2) You have hit the "play" button on the bottom left of the quicktime window, so that the film will actually start playing. Check. (And don*t laugh people forget to do this.)

Whats the problem look like?

I have no Quicktime window showing confused cry all that is showing is this

Does this mean its no longer availabe?

No, it means that you need to reinstall your Quicktime.

In the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) we adress a similar phenomenon at length here Frequently Asked Questions, where you would get the sound of the ad but no image.

However, from what I can see in that screenshot of yours, you don*t even have the quicktime plugin, so this bit of the FAQ Quicktime 6 the only plugin you need here is for you.

Just go to http//www.apple.com/quicktime and download the plugin and install it. Restart your browser and come back to the underpants-video page.

No plugin, no play. wink

I have Quicktime 6.5.2

it seems to be ok with the majority of other ads on here an example below

confused confused

Any more suggestions, all ideas are welcome confused

Weird. I have Quicktime 6.5.2 (pro) as well. This is what I see.

Did you try the Quicktime check thing recomended/linked in the FAQ for troubleshooting of this sort? Yaknow, to see if you have ALL the components?

What browser are you using anyway?

I just put some "-marks in the embed search linkage of that film... Dunno if that makes a difference, it was missing that earlier.

WooHoo I uninstalled Quicktime and reinstalled it and checked the Mime settings on installation and it shows now.

Will invest in Quicktime pro as well soon.

Thanks very much for the help grin

Exxellent!

Yeah, uninstalling and then reinstalling is usually the fastest way to fix things. wink Glad you*re sorted now. Those MIME Setting can be a pain.... And they are usually the culprit (hence that long talk about MIME Settings in the FAQ).

I hate MTV Ringtones.

It doesn*t play here either. All the other ads play fine.

So, you have the exact same problem as VimFuego (who could see all ads except that one) - want me to repeat everything I just said? ...........Or should we just fastforward to the quick-and-easy-fix which is re-installing your quicktime so that you have all components and it*s mapped properly with your browser?

wink

I*d be interested to hear if you still have a problem after that. There*s other ways of downloading missing components but the re-install is the fastest and simplest way to sort it out. This answer here in the FAQ deals with the mapping problems that can occure if the MIME Settings aren*t right, and how to fix that without re-installing on several different kinds of browsers.

The Quicktime Installation Check link http://www.apple.com/quicktime/troubleshooting/ This used to be helpful, might work for you (can*t tell if it is any more as my quicktime has all components and works)

Download here http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

There is also this page that shows all the components http://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/components.html

I*m on a mac Classic (9.2.2 OS) and have quicktime 5.02 and it plays for me. (yeah, I need to upgrade...)

I*ll sum up this giant thread in 30 seconds

If the MTV Ringtone ad doesn*t play on your computer YOUR COMPUTER Is lacking proper Quicktime. Re-Install.

There.

This really confused me, until I figured out what you mean. At first, I thought you had one of these

Macintosh Classic

running OS 9.2.2 and QuickTime 5.02, and I almost fell out of my chair!

Now, I understand "Mac Classic" means OS 9 (at least around here). I have not heard OS 9 called "Mac Classic" before. I will have to ask other Mac users I know if they have heard of the term.

Apple themselves invented the term. You*ll find it used often on Mac-sites and within the current Mac OSX software itself (which can launch "classic" in order to let the user run older programs)

For example - see this bit on the Apple website about the controlpanel for launching "classic".

http://www.apple.com/pro/tips/classicshortcuts.html

Hmmm....

caffeinegoddess, would you please select the "Apple" at the the top left corner of the menu bar of the Mac you are using and select "About This Mac" from the drop-down menu? Please, tell me what OS it says you are using.

Dabitch, if you are using a Mac, would you please do the same?

I don*t have to look to know I*m running 10.3.9 a.ka "Panther" Mac os X (yeah yeah, I*ll upgrade to Tiger later stop hounding me)

And Caff has already stated that she runs 9.2.2

Aren*t you guys straying way off topic? Just to re-cap once again

Problem Quicktime movies without image/won*t play

Solution If the MTV Ringtone ad doesn*t play on your computer YOUR COMPUTER Is lacking proper Quicktime. Re-Installing Quicktime is the fastest fix available.

You*re running the same OS as me! Don*t upgrade just yet, I don*t want to be left behind! (Actually, Panther suits me just fine)

caffeinegoddess did say she is running OS 9.2.2, and I understood that, but she threw the word "Classic" in there, and that is what confused me. Then, I figured out she probably was calling Mac OS 9 "Mac Classic".

After I said I had not heard OS 9 called "Mac Classic" before, you mentioned OS X*s Classic environment.

I am not going to derail this thread anymore with a big discussion about the difference between Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X Classic environment. I am going to drop it. It isn*t important.

So, to bring this thread back on topic
