hello!
i*m getting a bit tired of my current work situation (working as an art director at an promotional agency) and would like to start looking for a new job. although, most of the work i currently do (mainly in-store campaigns) isn*t always exactly portfolio material, especially if you would like to try to move over to a more creative discipline.
therefore, i*ve been checking the net for different portfolio schools and came to the conclusion that they all are way over my budget. so, does anyone know of a school (anywhere in the world) that comes at a reasonable price but still keeps a high standard?
thanks confused
The D&AD used to have great courses/workshops - they were short and sweet (6-10 weeks) and didn*t cost a complete fortune (though they did cost)... They were at night and they were good - I had some friends who attended while at another school and they became much better concepters thanks to that night-class at D&AD, I could see their ideas improve... Now, for the life of me I can*t find any information on their site about it. Grrr! Maybe they stopped? Pooh.
AdHouse ( www.adhousenyc.com) and sva (www.schoolofvisualarts.edu) have night classes in New York city. AdHouse even has a program where they set you up with an internship.
And since they are both a la carte, you can leave yourself time for a good job. Which is important if you need to pay rent in NYC.
I recomend AdHouse. I had a better experience there, but some do prefer SVA.
Is this the workshops you were talking about?
