public domain doesn*t mean what you think it means.

definepublic domain. Since the ad wasn*t created before 1922, it is still under copyright by Red Bull. This copyright still belongs to them no matter how many ways they let people watch it on their own website, or how many award shows they enter it into, no matter how many times they air it on cable, or how many admuseums such as this one that have the ad.

sorry, working in this biz has made me edgy, a client the other day actually said "can*t we just crop that image we found on the web? The photographer will never know". My god.....

I don*t mean to sound noobish or anything, but I would like to use this ad for a presentation today. The only problem is that when I tried to join, Paypal said that it would take 3-4 days to process it since I used a Visa giftcard instead of a real credit card (which I don*t have). So if anyone could do this for me, I*d really appreciate it (my address is feather(at)cs.utk.edu. I e-mailed the webmaster, but haven*t gotten a response back. And don*t think that I*m just trying to get something for nothing; I will pay as soon as the credit check or whatever goes through. Thanks for any help.

This is not a n00bie attack, just thought I should point to the FAQ in case other people also see this.



Bad news I*m afraid, Can you email a commercial to me? answer is; nobody here will email out any commercials for any reason. The copyrights on the ads limits what we can do with them.



However you might get lucky and a private collector has what you are looking for, who knows. grin



In regards to that four days-thing, is that an eCheck you used? If your paypal account has cash in it (= no Transfer from a US bank-account-step involved) it takes only a minute to get upgraded (or less). eChecks are like real checks, they take four days to transfer from one account to another, like from your bank account to your paypal account. Don*t know if that is what you are talking about just thought I*d mention it.



Hindsight is always 20/20, but if your boss keeps giving you impossible deadlines you might want to have a word...

Yeah, I read that in the FAQ; I just figured that since Red Bull is more public domain than most companies it seems(they have quite a collection of ads at their website) that the copyright clause might not affect the legality of sending it.



I was a little confused about the Paypal thing myself. I don*t have a credit card myself, so I picked up a Visa gift card that works at any B&M, but is kinda iffy on online stuff. They said that they*d charge a small fee (refundable of course) on the card and then I*d have to check with Visa in about 3-4 days to verify the code they used to charge it with. Ah, it*ll work out somehow.



Oh and in case anyone*s wondering, this is not really too important. I did a report on Sisyphus for the class (I*m still in college) and just kinda wanted it to show a contemporary caricature of him. He said that if I could get it some time before school let out, we could see it in class, if not, no matter. He actually wants to join this site now so he can see some of the old commercials ^_^.
