I hate my own ad
Yeah. In one of my hated ugly ads the voice over reads the same exact words as are supered onto the screen for five out of fifteen seconds.
Like ....hello??
I belive that my punters are bright enough to read. If you but the super in, I dont think a VO should read it for me. If you have a VO dont have the super and vice verca, i belive pretty strongly in this.
Client didnt agree of course.
besides., It doesnt take five seconds to read three words (two of them being the brand). The VO sounded retarded.
and retarded punters is what they got.

i am such a hack. it*s on the telly and everything. ill do better next time, i promise. frown
Mike,
Don*t blame yourself. Blame the client! Their lawyers! The back stabbing account executive! The spineless creative director! Your coked up partner! The marmite for brains focus group!
Blame everyone but...wait a minute....post your spot on ad-rag and let the adgrunts decide!
Yeah Mikemystery... Or send over an ad you made that you are rather chuffed with.
I sympathise.. I*ve mad at least three TV ads that I utterly hate. Bad camera, lousy sound, horrendous joke, crap editing and these triple-annoying logo*s and jingle-song all over the end of it. Mind you, I hated that ad as soon as the shoot began, with the script in hand that was a million miles away from the orignal idea.
Ooooh, and it so sucks seeing it on telly. Mind you, they don*t need to be on your reel, and like you say, next time you*ll do better. You learn something new every time. Like threatening to kill the client if they add another Logo at the end gets you nowhere...
Advertising is such a funny game. The client and the agency both share the same objective - to engage the consumer with an effective piece of communication. Yet, the client always wants to add layers to the ad that does nothing for it. In the end, the ad is boring and annoying. The consumers ignore it and the creatives get the blame.
