My name is Joe, and I AM AMERICAN!

It was only a matter of time I guess, but I just heard this morning that the actor who plays Joe (Jeff Douglas) on the Molson Canadian 'I Am Canadian' rant spot has moved to Los Angeles to pursue his career in the states. I guess his head got too big for this country (even though we are the second largest one in the world, as he once so enthusiastically informed us). Talk about biting the (mittened) hand that feeds you! Let's hope when he says to his new L.A. employers 'about my salary...' they don't misunderstand his Canuck accent and give him an old boot in payment instead. Well, we all know where he'll end up anyway. In a made for TV movie with Gary Coleman and Richard Hatch.

My name is Joe and I am an Actor goddamit!

With his accent he will probably end up playing a welsh guy in some B movie. Hollywood was never good at using accents correctly.

He had to leave town. Now nobody will ever use him in a spot because viewers would say - hey that's the frikkin' I am Rant guy and now he's selling soup. Just like the guy on Ed - he was the "If I wanted water I'd ask for water" Blue light guy and then nobody would cast him with a ten foot pole, so there you go and there it is and that's it that's all.

.....and that is exactly why SAG wanted their actors to get decent pay for long media runs on cable (and internet). If you're playing a doctor on TV for six months, you can't get another job while your face is still synonymous with Tylenol and a ugly labcoat.

I second the welsh guy thing.
