*Full Disclosure* I am an actor and I play Phil in this Spot.
Okay, that said, I am not by any means vain, looking for a pat on the back, nor after fame or ego pumping. I just think that this is the funniest commercial I have ever been a part of and was so honored to A) book the job and B) work with a group of talented, creative, genuinely pleasant people. I am very interested to know what my fellow adgrunts think of the spot. Thank you, enjoy!
I think it's funny...in a subtle way...not laugh out loud funny though. Works really good with Verizon's Pay As You Go plan.
Well if it's the funniest commercial you've ever been a part of, I worry about what else you've been a part of. Don't get me wrong your performance is great, natural and sells the script. But the concept is tired. "Men are afraid of commitment." Please. Lazy, lazy concepting. And, the "Can you here me now?" guy is probably the most recognizeable icon since the Dell guy, but in a bad way. They destroyed the deplorable Verizon "peace sign" gesture, why stop there?
Thanks, silver3, the performance comment was appreciated. I can't say much about the concept, just that I think Phil, as a character, doesn't have much to do with "men being afraid of anything." In fact, I think he's just a simple wacky dude.
I thought it was the funniest commercial I've been a part of because it simply is to me, and it was a fun experience. The only other spot that I appeared in that is available on here is the Guinness St. Patrick's Day spot. I've done about seven others, that were funny but all in all, un=noticeable. Don't worry! I'm ok all in all :) Wait and see, Verizon's new agency, McCann/Erickson, are going to make it re-define the brand. I think Phil is a good start.
