Return of the Real American Hero - all 21 radiospots.

(note - this was previously under "scoop only at adland" since it was. For archive browing I've moved it to Radio spots)

Where have all the good men gone

And where are all the Buds?

Where's the street-wise Hercules

To fight the rising suds?

Isn't there a white knight to pump this foamy keg?

Late at night I toss and turn and spill beer on my leg

I need a hero

I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night

He's gotta be strong

And he's gotta be fast

And he's gotta be drinkin Bud Light
- Bonnie Tyler-Anheuser-Busch, circa 1987 (more...)

Isn't it great that as an advertising creative you sometimes get a campaign out that serves as therapy. All the jobs of the Real American Heroes are jobs AD's & CW's would have been doing if they hadn't made it into advertising. Think about it: two writers and two designers out of six listed here.

Clayton - You are the king! Three months before adcritic indeed!

Next we'll see "Mr Orbituary writer".

hello to the fine people at Adland. like your site. just wanted to let you know we did the bud light "heroes" radio campaign here at DDB Chicago, not BBDO as you had mentioned. but glad you liked them just the same.

Let me start off by saying the "Real American Heroes" Bud radio spots are great. I know these spots could almost be used for virtually any beverage or consumable product known to man, but the salute/toasting thing sorta works with the idea of beer. Keep this campaign going, I like it. These radio ads know what they are selling and they know who they are selling to. Plain and simple.

Ok, here is a quick idea: Whoever wrote these Bud "Real American heroes" radio spots should be put in charge of some American Radio Advertisement Commission. This governing body would have to listen to any and all perspective radio spots (both local and national spots) and judge whether or not they should be allowed to be put on the airways. The judgment on whether an ad would be allowed to be aired or not would be based one 3 simple things: 1. Are they creative. 2. Are they origional/not stolen from another radio spot or spots. And 3. Are they funny.

I am so sick and tired of shitty radio spots on the radio. I have no idea how the people who write some of these ads not only manage to sleep at night, let alone keep their jobs at the agencies they are working at. No, I will go one better: Who are these hack Creative Directors that give the green light for these radio spots to actually be aired in the first place. When you hacks write crappy radio spots you make the rest of us look bad. Hell, you make the whole Advertising industry in general look bad. I am begging you, stop being hacks or get the hell out of the business!!!

Any sign of the mighty "Mr. Jelly Donut Filler" by chance?

Simply beautiful...

Oops. Shit. Mybad. After a while, all those dang initials kind of run together. I corrected the flub to properly credit your team. Sorry for the mishap and thanks again for the excellent work.

That one's available on the budlight.com site in a shockwavey/flash-type audio format. I have as of yet been unable to procure a MP3 of that spot and two others that I now know exist.

What my friend? You did not like these ads? Or do you think they were stolen?
Whatever you might think of the idea - I have heard similar - you have to hand it to these guys, it's damn well executed.
