I've bored you with this before: Worst banner ad ever, System doctor takes over your browser and Hacking web banner networks sends banner ads from hated to feared. Well, that redirect trick is still appearing in flash banners on ad networks everywhere it seems - just a few days ago fellow adblogger Adrants.com had the misfortune of carrying one of those buggers.

Nokia: Mobile users are OK with receiving SpaSMS

Now that the "emailmarketing" phase has putered out as companies discover that the flooding of mailboxes wih useless and untargeted salespitches simply agitate people, Nokia paid to have some reseach done on if people would mind receiving marketing messages on their phones via SMS (SpaSMS). Suprise suprise - some people even said they'd like to receive messages!

The perfect name and the perfect game.

Werbeblogger in Germany has posted images of a port-a-loo company that has the perfect name. And I do mean spot on perfect name. Thanks to Caff who found it and shared the laughs.

Meanwhile here in Denmark, some art director went wild when showing off the meat on sale, because here in .dk - we do love a nice piece of meat. Raaaouw.

Unfortunate Art Direction

I don't know why, but this sort of thing seems to only happen with meat ads. If you recall, there was that Argentinian chunk of meat - now there's Super Target's sliced ham.

Phallic logo's revisited

There are a few more gems to be added to the phallic logo collection.

First up, the aptly named "modern tvätt", I'm not sure if this logo insunuates that they only wash soiled sheets or not. But it sure is ..eh..modern.

Or perhaps they've been playing with themselves so much they have gone blind on used adconcepts - Trojan condoms versus the sexy and controversial Coco De Mer campaign.
In late November of 2001 these ads appeared over the United Kingdom. Adam Scholes, art director of the series said: "These are war faces. The photographer was shaking and sweating after he took these." , I bet he was.... Already on the first day of the campaign the ASA was alerted and stated: "The British Codes of Advertising and Sales Promotion are quite clear: no ad should cause serious or widespread offence. The ASA will investigate any complaints it may receive about these posters." The campaign went on to rake in ad awards and photography awards.

The New York Times reports that Forbes.com has begun serving paid links within articles written by journalists.

"We want to be trailblazers, whether from an advertising standpoint or an editorial standpoint," said Jim Spanfeller, president and chief executive at Forbes.com, part of Forbes Inc. The company will keep a close eye on its readers' reaction throughout the summer. "We would walk away," Mr. Spanfeller said, if readers indicated confusion or disapproval of ads within the editorial content.

The story broke at DMnews when Brian Morrissey; "Forbes.com has begun to embed advertiser links in its news articles, making it the first major Web news publisher to experiment with mixing ad units within editorial content."

ihaveanidea and Coors light announce worlds largest student award

With the goal of supporting young creative talent in Canada, Coors Light and Ihaveanidea have launched a creative competition titled "Win the Coors Light Wall".
The challenge - if you are an advertising or design student, design a winning idea to be painted on the most prominent Coors Light mural in downtown Toronto, one of the largest in the city. At an astounding 7 stories high and 80 meters in width, The Coors Light Wall is the largest advertising prize in history.
To complement this prize, Coors Light will also fund two semesters of the winner's tuition in an advertising or related program at a Canadian college or university. Second prize will receive a new Apple iBook and third prize will receive an Apple iPod.
