Diktator Announces New Director Viivi Huuska

Coinciding with International Women’s Day, Diktator is proud to add Finnish director/ photographer Viivi Huuska to its roster for her ability to uniquely represent diverse, confident women.

Throughout her short but intense career, Huuska has worked with prominent film producers, editorial magazines, fashion designers and leading Finnish record companies and music artists. After conquering the Finnish market, she is ready to continue developing her work on a global scale with the support of Diktator.

Viivi’s work is wildly distinct, while carrying a universally relevant and timely message. She explores gender, femininity, the representation of the female figure in modern media, body activism and the importance of tolerance, all of which she approaches with an unwavering recognizable style that resonates with audiences worldwide.

Huuska’s life journey has been shaped by her exposure to an unconventional and free environment. By the age of 16 she was performing among drag queens who would become her influential mentors. This experience led her to see the world through a carnivalesque lens and understand gender from a position of acceptance and empowerment.

Huuska is extremely excited to accept new challenges and take advantage of the current climate, thirsty for female centric narratives and transgressive standpoints.

Gustavo Leon, Executive Producer at Diktator says, “You rarely find a director that instantly blows you away and then months into the conversation continues to surprise you with her originality. She doesn’t observe today’s culture and try to copy it. Viivi IS the culture of today. Her work is relevant, visceral and honest. It won’t leave you indifferent. She is the perfect match for Diktator on every level. She is authentic, passionate and embraces diversity with curiosity and wonder. She continually pushes boundaries and challenges brands and viewers to see a different perspective. This, combined with her visually striking flare for details and storytelling, makes Diktator more than proud that she is joining our family in the U.S., Sweden and beyond.”
